Occlusal Splint Therapy Hands-On Course
Course Description
All dentists face the daily dilemma of observing patients who are experiencing problems that are related to sore muscles and headaches, clicking and tender TMJoints, worn and sensitive teeth, and a variety of other problems.
These same patients often also want or need cosmetic and restorative dentistry. So where do we start? An excellent first step is to develop a clear diagnosis.
Splints are an invaluable aid in differential diagnosis, diagnosis, and treatment of joint, muscle and occlusal problems. This course is designed to help each delegate understand the rationale for using a variety of splint designs including Lucia Jigs, NTIs, B Splints, Superior Repositioning Splints, Anterior Repositioning Splints, and thick nightguards.
A thorough discussion of why, when, what type, how long, and how to measure outcomes of splint therapy will be an emphasis of the course outline.
The course will heavily emphasize hands on experience and each delegate will personally fabricate and/or adjust several splints.
